No sacrifice, no bumper harvest -Ven Nwosu From Emma Uwanekezi, Enugu

An Anglican cleric has reminded Christians of the essence of making sacrifices to enjoy a bumper harvest at the end.

In a sermon entitled “No sacrifice, no joyful bumper harvest” which he preached at the All Saints Anglican Church, GRA Enugu, the Archdeacon, Ven. Honest Gad Nwosu, told the congregation that any farmer who expects to harvest without sowing is a thief.

He said that sowing is painful and needs so much sacrifice, pointing out also that any seed sown does not sprout unless it dies.

He quoted John 12:23-26 where Jesus reminded Christians that “unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit”.

He also added that “he who loves his life loses it and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life”.

The Cleric, however, pointed out that our duty is to clear the ground and sow the seed, God does the rest.

He said that Jesus died on the cross, going through all the suffering and sacrifice.  In the end, he was crowned with glory.

According to Ven. Nwosu, God’s desire for us is that we should be glorified.

He also reminded the congregation of the injunction Christ gave to Christians whom He said, “whoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
