Gov Okorocha renews bond with Keke operators

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has declared that commercial tricyclists, aka keke operators, have been the strength of his administration.

The governor said this during the solidarity rally of the keke operators under the aegis of Imo Pilots in support of the state government at freedom square, Owerri, recently.

He acknowledged the role they played during the 2011 governorship elections and pledged to continue to appreciate them.

Governor Okorocha who restated the determination of his administration to better the lives of keke riders in the state, said that he has a very strong relationship with them and that nothing will separate him from them.

The governor, who also said that his first political outing during the 2011 campaign was done in a keke, informed them that government is working out modalities to ensure that every member of the keke riders benefits from the one million naira interest free loan and that the free fuel and kerosene can go round.

He told them of the achievements of his administration and assured them that no bad leader will ever govern Imo State again as he has broken the chain of bad governance while he appealed to them to help the security agencies in the state to ensure adequate security in the state.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of the keke operators, Comrade Austin Ojukwukere, thanked the governor for bringing keke operators under one umbrella known as “Imo Pilots”, the provision of interest free loan and the free fuel.

He appealed to Governor Okorocha to appoint some of their members into his cabinet and to provide land and a bus for their office activities.
