By Victor-Clark Alisigwe

The Archbishop and Bishop of Orlu Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Bennett C.I. Okoro PhD (JP) last Sunday instituted and inducted the Rev. Ernest Anayochuwu Ebenu PhD, the Vicar of Amazano Parish.

In his sermon at the service to mark the occasion at St. Mathew’s Anglican Church, Amazano in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, the Archbishop charged priests to leave a legacy of prayer and progress as well as dispense God’s word and His sacraments.

The Prelate noted that as clerk in the Holy Order, the Vicar has an obligation to perform his duties as a true pastor under the great shepherd of souls.

He also urged Dr. Ebenu not to betray the trust in him and advised him to care for all, both young or old, rich and poor, proclaiming the gospel and nourishing his parishioners spiritually.

The Diocsean also advised the parishioners to support their priest no matter the circumstance, saying that God knows how to deal with a priest who chooses to be bad.

In his speech, the Archdeacon of Njaba South Archdeaconry, Ven. Obioma J. Agazue also called for support for the priest.

Responding, Rev. Dr. Ebenu pledged loyalty to the Archbishop and the Diocese; and promised to discharge his duties to the glory of God.

The reverend theologian also said that evangelism and soul winning will be his top priority.
