Christians have been enjoined to appreciate supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
Rev. Innocent Ewunonu of Holy Trinity Anglican Church Oru Ahiara, Ahiara East in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA gave the injunction in a sermon marking thanksgiving service in the Parish.
He said God in his infinite mercy sent his only begotten son, Christ to die for the salvation of mankind after the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
The clergy underscored that death is a painful and an excruciating ordeal but pointed out that the Christendom celebrates Christ death for he laid down his precious life to redeem and liberate humanity from the captivity, entombment, enchantment and spell of the evil one.
Rev. Ewunonu underlined that without the supreme sacrifice by Christ, man would have remained perpetually under bondage of satan.
He emphasized that the period called for sober reflection on the suffering and agony of Christ and charged Christians to emulate Christ humility, sacrifice, spirit of forgiveness and in addition flee from sin, love and show kindness to one another to share the full joy of Easter, Christ resurrection from death after three days of crucification and burial.
