Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said that his administration’s violation of the so-called due process, a vigorous fight against corruption and the minimizing of frivolities has helped him to achieve a lot in the state.
In a state-of-Imo address which he delivered at the newly constructed Imo International Convention Centre (IICC) Owerri, the governor said that due process causes bureaucratic bottlenecks.
He reeled out his achievements in various sectors which he said he made in spite of dwindling revenue and attributed the success to God and support of the people.
According to him, these achievements, mainly in infrastructure and education, are evidence that “Imo is the richest state in the country”.
“Imo is the brain box of the nation, land full of academics, rich in vision and mission”, he said.
He denied ever joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and maintained that his party remained All Progressives Congress (APC) which he is proud of.
Owelle Okorocha noted that he has all it takes to transform Nigeria, adding that it is time for Igbos to be remembered in Nigerian politics.
APC, he said, will provide a platform for the emergence of a president or vice president of the Igbo extraction.
On security, he said that the country as at present, “is not the nation of our dream,” and urged all to join hands in combating the evil wind.
Also speaking, Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, attributed the success of the present administration within these three years to sacrifice and harmonious relationship between the executive and the legislature, adding that Imo State is now delivered from the shackles of political detractors that never meant well for the state.
He commended the governor on his achievements and expressed the willingness of the State House of Assembly to partner with him to deliver the dividends of democracy to Imo people.
Present at the occasion are the former governor of Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, Alhaji Aminu Masari, former speaker House of Representative, APC National Deputy Chairman, Audu Ogbeh, APC National woman leader Barr.
