The Imo State Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha, has been honoured with the Nehemiah Award by the Anglican Diocese of Orlu.
Presenting the award to the governor at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Achara Umuaka, during the 3rd session of the 10th Synod of the Diocese, Archbishop and Bishop of Orlu, Most Rev. Benett Okoro said it was in recognition of the governor’s sincere contributions in transforming and rebuilding the state, just as Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem.
He said that giving honour to those in leadership position will encourage them to do more and spur others to do well in the positions.
Receiving the award, governor Okorocha, who appreciated the honour bestowed on him, said that such will spur him to more works in the state and promised to do all he can to uplift the state.
In the same development, governor Okorocha has enjoined men of God to emulate the humane nature of Pastor Enoch Adebayo of the Redeem Christian Church of God who he said in all his years of ministry does not preach condemnation but hope for all Christians in their struggle to get salvation.
Governor Okorocha was speaking during the Holy Ghost Power Explosion 2014 and Dedication of the Holy Ghost Tabernacle at the Headquarters church of Charismatic Renewal Ministry Inc.
He thanked the church for their prayers which, he said, contributed to his success during the 2011 elections and his achievements in the state in the past three years.
The governor said that he will stop at nothing to improve the lives of Imo people and therefore called for synergy among the people to accelerate social economic development in the state while he advised the Imo people to show love to one another.
In his speech, Pastor Cosmas Ikechukwu of the Charismatic Renewal Ministry said that the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the church on the day of Pentecost was the logical conclusion of our Lord’s earthly ministry and that it was on that day that He formally handed the baton to the Holy Spirit to continue His work in us with us `and through us.
The cleric, who advised Christians to pay more attention to the Holy Spirit, said that the Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth and that only by the ministry of the Holy Ghost can we reverse the popular verse by James Russel Lowell “Truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne”.
Only as we listen to the Holy Spirit and speak in his power and authority can we dethrone wrong in the heart of so many today,” he said.
Also in his remarks, the General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adebayo, said that the occasion was to give eloquent testimony of the goodness of the Lord in building the house of God.
