IMSU former acting VC counsels new students

The newly admitted students of the Imo State University, Owerri have been warned to be wary of interlopers whose sole motive is to destroy the vision of the hard working students, thereby ruining their future.

They were also enjoined to shine as stars since IMSU has what it takes to make them great in their future endeavours.

These words of exhortation were given by the former acting Vice Chancellor, Professor B.E.B. Nwoke during the 2013/2014 matriculation ceremony of the institution.

The erudite scholar and foremost disciplinarian who has been teaching in the university since 1981 at inception, said that greatness could only be achieved by dint of hard work and resilience. He enjoined the new entrants to shun cultism, prostitution, insubordination, examination misconducts and indecent dressing.

He took a swipe on those he described as daughters of Jezebel who shoot up their breasts, and walk about brazenly half-naked, with the sole intention to seduce and deceive our male lecturers and students, warning that IMSU still frowns at sexual harassment.

Prof. B.E.B., as popularly called by the campus folks, said that IMSU has produced many great men and women like the present secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Senator Pius Anyim and Emeka Nwajiuba, adding that these prominent citizens did not achieve greatness by dancing in the gallery.

“Father, father” or “Big Daddy” as fondly called by some students, said that no one with wanton disregard for human life has ever made it in life, and enjoined the new undergraduates to lean from the past mistakes of others.
