Nigerians have been called upon to embrace true revival both as Individuals and as a nation. (The call was made recently by the President of the Women Ministries, Anglican Diocese of Okigwe, Lady Chinyere Chikeze when she presented her presidential address during the 2014 Diocesan Women’s Conference at St. Philips Anglican Church, Umuduru-Egbaguru in Onuimo LGA, with the theme: “Revive Thy Work Oh Lord”
Lady Osuegbu (Mama Okigwe) pointed out that “Revive Thy Work Oh lord” is a cry showing how much we as individuals or a nation need spiritual revival, for no one needs to be fooled by the mushrooming of churches and the self – acclaimed pastors crowding the space, yet only a few live up to expectation.
Mama Okigwe condemned leaders with the concept of revival where we only aim at creating more interest in organizing activities and meetings, whipping up great emotions and excitements without the spirit of God.
Such excitements, she observed, last for a short time and diffuse, then people go back to zero point and new members remain as carnal as ever.
The Bishop’s wife called for mass repentance and turning to God, reiterating that repentance must flow from the church leaders down to the man on the street, whereby the man on the street must see not by preaching but the lives of church members, what the difference is, so that he can know what he lacks.
She charged all to let tears run down their cheeks like a river and give ourselves no rest until revival comes to our individual lives and give ourselves no rest until revival comes to our individual lives and that of the nation.
