Bishop Osuegbu calls for trust in God

The Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Okigwe, Rt. Rev. E.C.D. Osuegbu, PhD, JP, has charged Christians all over the world to put trust in God and express gratitude for his many countless blessings.

The Bishop gave the charge while delivering his sermon at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Imo State University, Owerri, during the 40th year Wedding Anniversary Celebration of Sir Prof. Emma & Lady Carol Nwokoro.

The Bishop likened the celebrants to the biblical Israelites who were facing a war with the Assyrians, yet they were not trained for war. The Lord helped them to fight and defeat the Assyrians. Hence they made a memorial trust for the Lord by setting the stone of Ebenezer between Mizpeh and Shen (1 Sam. 7:12).

The bishop expressed gratitude to God for leading the Nwokoro’s thus far in their marital journey, which started four decades ago with a court marriage at the Westminster Abbey London.

He therefore, admonished every Christian to always thank God on a daily basis over His countless blessings as the Psalmist enumerates them in Psalm 103 vs 1.

He commended Prof. Nwokoro for his dogged faith, noting that he was the pastors’ warden and the first Building Committee Chairman of the Chaplaincy. He reminded the children of the celebrants to follow their parents’ footsteps and also to identify with their home church.

On his own capacity, Bishop Osuegbu, who was also the chaplain of the chaplaincy before he was elected the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Okigwe, made a personal monetary commitment in conjunction with his wife, Lady C.C Osuegbu, towards the ongoing building project.

As a show of gratitude to God for leading them thus far in their marital journey, the celebrants donated towards the chaplaincy’s building project.

Some of the dignitaries in attendance were the Rt. Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Iheagwam, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Egbu and Pioneer Chaplain of the Chaplaincy; Prof and Justice Mrs Anwuka, SSG and former Vice Chancellor, Imo State University Owerri, Imo State Farmers Association, Prof & Mrs Iwuchukwu, Vice Chancellor Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State, Sir Prof & Lady E.E. Okpara former DVC Imo State University Owerri, Sir. Prof. E. Ubochi, Chief Robert Asusu and Sir & Lady Felix Chukwuma who was the best man of the wedding 40 years ago.
