Only God can rescue Nigeria -Bishop

The 17th Diocesan Annual Men’s Conference of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu ended recently at St. James Church, Obiangwu, Ngor Okapala local government of Imo State and the Bishop, Rt. Rev Geoffrey Okorafor used the opportunity to declare that only God’s intervention would rescue Nigeria from the current security challenges.
In his charge on the theme; Not my will but thine be done”, the prelate noted that since every human solution to tackle insurgency and rescue the Chibok School girls have failed, the only viable alternative was to recourse to God.
In this context, Bishop Okorafor recommended total submission to God by Christians in order to overcome all challenges in life like Jesus who was lifted by God and gave Him victory even over death for obeying God.
The Bishop of Egbu equally observed that the current security challenges in the country have been politicised and counseled those doing so to desist from such as such did not help matters.
In his keynote address, the guest speaker at the occasion, Engr. Obed Ekeocha who equally spoke on the theme, cited the case of Abraham who, according to him, “did not only obey God but followed Him” even when he did not know where he was going and was at last blessed abundantly by God.
Engr. Ekeocha then urged Christian fathers to totally submit themselves to God assuring those that do so, like Joseph, would receive revelations from God.
The guest speaker challenged the church to unite in prayers to overcome the insurgency in the North pointing out that the church in the North would continue to advance the gospel despite insurgency as such is the will of God which must eventually triumph.
