Scores of Christians were recently presented to the Bishop of Egbu, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor for confirmation, admission and induction at St. John’s Church, Umundoche, Ngor Okpalla, Imo State.
At the Eucharistic service for the ceremony meant for Obike Parish, the bishop urged the candidates to aspire to be as perfect as their heavenly father.
He enjoined Christians not to prevent justice and to avoid deceit, swearing falsely, defrauding others as well as maltreating people with disabilities as he reminded them that God’s fury over such would be consuming.
Again, the prelate cautioned those who offer fetish sacrifice on God’s altar, warning that their nefarious activities would be exposed at the fullness of time since nothing could be hidden from God.
On the build-up to the 2015 election, Bishop Okorafor expressed concern over the number of governorship aspirants in Imo State and urged them to exercise restraint in the pursuit of their ambition.
He then urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances in order not to unnecessarily heat up the polity.
The bishop was full of praises for the former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for conceding defeat at the last election calling that a new dawn in the nation’s democracy.
Impressed by the large number of candidates admitted into the various arms of the church, Bishop Okorafor commended highly the Vicar, Rev. Israel Okorafor, his wife, church workers and their wives for fishing out candidates for all the five groups in the parish.
