Chaplain counsels non-pastoral workers in Owerri Diocese By Gid Ahanonu

Christ Church, Owerri penultimate Saturday hosted the periodic meeting of non-pastoral workers of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri.
Addressing the gathering of over 200 workers, the Chaplain of Owerri Diocesan non-pastoral workers, Rev. John C. Nlechukwu posited that priesthood function is for both the ordained and other church workers as, according to him, “every faithful worker in God’s vineyard is a royal priest of God.”
He listed some of the attributes of a typical church worker to include the ability to make a difference as a God’s chosen and leading exemplary lives to show the light to the world.
Rev. Nlemchukwu urged the workers to be satisfied with their wages assuring them of God’s reward if they showed faithfulness to the duties assigned to them.
Some of the speakers among the workers appealed for uniform salary structure for teachers in the Diocese.
Others called on the diocesan authorities to reinstate the superannuation scheme so that they would have something to fall back to on retirement as the chaplain assured of taking their complaints to the appropriate quarters.
