Security operatives in Imo State have organized a one-day prayer summit in Owerri where the Chaplain for Nigeria Immigration Services, Rev. Anointing Uzoma, stressed that God can eradicate Boko Haram in Nigeria.
Speaking on “the role of uniformed men in the society”, Rev. Uzoma highlighted the importance of prayer in the present fight against insurgency.
The uniform, he said, is not meant to intimidate people, show off or break the law but to live an exemplary life as God’s agents “with the miracle that comes from the word of God and not from uniform or flesh or eye service, we can conquer Boko Haram,” the cleric said.
While the Naval Chaplain, Rev. C. Orji, advised the security operatives to always lay their foundation in God, Evangelist Wisdom of the Police Command said that every security agent should see God as his source of power, adding that a life without prayer makes one empty.
The Muslim Chaplain and Chief Imam of Police Command, ASP Mikaila Ibrahim, described Boko Haram as an occultic group with sinister purposes, holding that they are neither Christian nor Muslim and so should be isolated.
“Christianity, Islam or even Judaism do not encourage killing innocent people or human sacrifice and bloodshed.
He quoted the bible and Koran as saying, respectively, “thou shalt not kill” and “do not kill a human soul that God has made.”
Ibrahim warned residents in Imo not to harbour any Boko Haram member, lamenting that insurgency has threatened the nation’s oneness.
Landlords, he said, should know their intending tenants and charged traditional rulers to be abrest of happenings in their domain.
The Naval Muslim Chaplain, Lt. Abdulhameed, urged Christians and Muslims alike to be passionate in their service to God while he charged the security agents to see themselves as complementary to each other.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Imo DSP Andrew Enwerem, who declared the summit open on behalf of the Police Commissioner, urged them to declare spiritual warfare against people who breech the peace in our society. He quoted the scriptures that stated that if God does not watch over the city, the watchman watches in vain.
He said that the purpose of the prayer summit was to hand over Imo to God.
