The media aide to a governorship aspirant in Imo State under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr Emperor Iwuala has confirmed the destruction of bill boards erected for his principal, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho in Obowo and Njaba local government areas of the state.
Answering questions from journalists who called on him at the Captain Ihenacho Campaign Organisation office at Egbu Road Owerri, the former media aide to two Deputy Governors of Imo State expressed his displeasure at the rate political opponents were becoming intolerable stating that the destruction of the bill boards is a strong indication that his principal has an intimidating political profile.
‘Those who used to cry out in the past claiming being intimidated by those in power, having received power now, are doing the worst. With the recent political developments in the country, we know those who could have destroyed the bill boards. They are the same people who want to rule Imo State and this country by force. They are the ones who said that Nigeria would be ungovernable if they don’t win elections. They have resorted to terrorism and their counterparts in Imo State are acting accordingly…. . However, the destruction the bill boards cannot deter our principal in his call to run for the 2015 Governorship Election in Imo State. Instead, it is attracting sympathy to him and invariably, making him more popular….’.
Meanwhile, a stakeholder in APGA, Barr. Zach Okoronkwo has accused top government appointees and APC leaders in Obowo for being the brain behind the destruction of bill boards with APGA logos in the area.
In a release made available to the press, the legal practitioner said that during the recent visits of the wife of the state governor for the 2014 Women August Meeting and that of Governor Rochas Okorocha for the Annual Ezumezu Festival to the area, that APC leaders and government appointees from the area allegedly resorted to crude politics of terrorism with the resemblance of the despicable ‘Boko Haram’ tactics and nocturnally pulled down bill boards with APGA and Peoples Democratic Party logos in the area leaving only that of APC aspirants.
He however, called on those in power to realize that the beauty of democracy is the presence of viable opposition.
