Youth Week ends at Emmanuel Church Enugu From Emma Uwanekezi, Enugu

Week-long activities to celebrate youths in Emmanuel Anglican Church Acharra Layout, Enugu were last Sunday brought to a close with a harvest thanksgiving service.

Other activities which added excitement to the week included a football match in which Sanctuary Keepers hammered the Boys’ Brigade 2-1 to lift the trophy.

In the female volleyball, the AYF beat YW/YAC 3-0 to win the trophy.

There was also a quiz competition and the Band/Choir came tops with 14 points.

In his admonition, the Archdeacon of Emmanuel Church, Acharra Layout, Enugu, Ven. Ginikanwa B. Ezeabali urged youths to be of good character and to be obedient, law-abiding, avoiding all negative tendencies that could mar their future.

Lamenting the dearth of good character among the youths, Ven. Ezeabali told the youths this was the time to shape their future adding that “a wasted youth is a wasted old age.”

But he assured them of a bright tomorrow if they sought the face of God in all they did.

In his sermon at the harvest thanksgiving service with the theme, “Heirs of the kingdom,” Ven. Davidson Udodi assured the youths that they are the heirs to the throne of God and should not spare any effort to inherit the kingdom.
