A week-long training by the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Imo State Chapter which took place at Nazareth Anglican Church, Ohohia, Mbieri in Owerri Diocese came to an end last Sunday during which the Vicar of Ohohia Parish, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ekeanyawu was investitured the chaplain Mbaitoli Battalion council.
Performing the ceremony, the National Training Officer and the Chairman of Okigwe Battalion Council as the highest trainers in Imo State and charged them to continue to work in harmony with their chaplain, patrons and parishioners.
According to procedure, before the investiture proper, there was presentation by the chairman, Mr. Chimazu Uwakwe, proclamation by the legal adviser, Barr. (Lady) Emily Eronini as well as response by the secretary, Mr Chinonso Ebinyasi on behalf of the council.
In his response, the new chaplain, Rev. Ekeanyanwu, thanked the body and all those who made the event possible adding that his position as chaplain of the council was in tandem with his calling as a priest, assuring of his commitment to the council and persistent prayers for all.
Earlier in his sermon at the service conducted by Evangelist Captain Godspower Uwa, the Okigwe Battalion Chairman, Rev. David Opurum, urged members of Boys’ Brigade to embark on massive evangelism and minimize the usual parade and band practices assuring them of eternal life if they lived exemplary lives.
Another highlight of the occasion was the investiture of Mr Henry Okorie as one of their patrons.
There was also parade by the members which the officers, patrons and chaplain inspected.
Other councils which featured in support of Mbaitoli Council were Owerri Municipal, Okigwe, Orlu, Mbaise, Egbu, Ohaji/Egbema, Ideato and Ikeduru.
