The ancient town of Emii in Owerri North local government of Imo State played host to a four-day convocation of women of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu and special invitees from outside the Diocese which ends today, Sunday September 7.
At a pre-convocation press briefing recently in Egbu, the chairman of the Diocesan Women’s Conference Planning Committee and a Chief Magistrate , Imo State judiciary, Mrs. Maureen Onyewuotu, said the 19th Diocesan Women’s Conference would start on Thursday 4th September and run till Sunday 7th September 2014 , at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Emii, with the theme “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh, Is there anything too hard for me?” taken from the book of Jeremiah chapter 32 verse 27.
The President of the Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Girls Guild, Mrs. Ngozi Chioma Okorafor (Mama Egbu), who is presiding over the Conference for the second time since their enthronement in May 2013 on Friday presented the Presidential Address which preceded a formal opening of the Conference by the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okorafor.
Other highpoints of the Conference, according to Mrs Onyewuotu at the press briefing included an AWARD Service in honour of the Conference Mothers and the presentation of the 19th Edition of “The Virtue” Magazine and 2015 Calendar on Saturday 6th September.
The climax of the Conference will be the Conference Service, launching of the Diocesan Women’s Building project, Magazine and Calendar today. Both services will be presided over by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Okorafor while the occasion will be rounded off with presentation of prices, exchange of gifts between link Stations and the final reading and adoption of the Resolutions/Communique of the Conference.
