Chapel of Resurrection Enugu marks 10th anniversary By Emma Uwanekezie, Enugu

The 10th Anniversary and Harvest Thanksgiving service of the Chapel of His Resurrection, ESUT Teaching Hospital, Parklane, GRA Enugu was held last Sunday at the church auditorium,

Presiding was His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel O. Chukwuma (OON) Archbishop, Enugu Province and Bishop of Enugu.

The processional hymn “Fill Thou my life O’ Lord my God” ushered in the choir, the clergy and the bishop into the venue for the business of the day. The first lesson was taken from 1st Chronicles 29: 1-8, while the lesson was taken from the New Testament reading, Acts of the Apostles 2 :28 -47.

As usual, the church sang Enugu Diocesan Anthem before the Bishop took the sermon. The sermon gave way to a chronicle of God’s mercies on the chapel of His Resurrection ESUT-TH, Parklane GRA Enugu going down memory lane. This chapel was inaugurated on Sunday 5th September 2004 by his lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma.

He recounted how the first service was held at the school of nursing basement, which served as the worship venue for some months. Miraculously, following the dogged determination of the lord bishop and the dutiful follow-up of his chaplain, then, Rev. Emeka Akalazu, a parcel of land was approved for the chapel permanent site within the ESUT College of Medicine section of Parklane by the state Governor in January 2007.

To” the glory of God, on Sunday 19th October 2008 (St Lukes Day) 20 months after, this chapel was dedicated by (then) Rt. Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma, the bishop of Enugu Diocese. The construction had a cost of total sum of over N40 million.

Since then, by God’s enablement, the chapel has continued to make strides in the area of infrastructure development of the church building and its environment.
