New priests advised against materialism, womanizing

Newly ordained priests have been advised to shun materialism and ungodly relationship with women if they want their ministry to thrive.

This charge was given by an Anglican Cleric, Rev. Joshua Onwuliri, during the thanksgiving, and reception service in honour of Rev and Mrs Kingsley Nnabugo Akujor who was recently ordained a Deacon by the Bishop of the Diocese on the Lake, the Rt. Rev. (Dr) Chijioke Oti.

The event which took place last Sunday at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Umuoziri, Inyishi in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State attracted dignitaries from far and near.

Preaching a sermon entitled: “Behold, stand out as a sheep in the midst of wolves” (Matt. 10: 16-17), Rev. Onwuliri, enjoined ministers of the word of God to be as wise as serpent, and harmless as doves. He counselled them to be wary of men who would disguise as true fellows but are fake. For the newly ordained, he wished him the best in his ministry and urged him to always work very hard.

Dignitaries who attended the occasion included Dame Barr. Elsie, Tagbo R.B.K. Okafor, a philanthropist and great supporters of the work of God, Sir Emeka Oduah, registrar, Diocese on the Lake, Mr Decency Ike who represented Chief Magnus Ibe, and priests included Ven. and Mrs Eugene Ihenacho, Rev. Canon Nwokoro and others.

Rev. Kingsley Akujor is a graduate of religion from Paul’s Theology. He served shortly as a church teacher and an evangelist before his ordination on July 13, 2014.
