Coalition of political Groups adopts Ojiri for 2015 governorship race

One of the major contenders to the Imo governorship seat, Mr. Ken Ojiri has fired on his quest to win the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State by interacting with key groups and associations on how to realize his guber ambition.

Ojiri who is the governorship flagbearer of the Accord Party spoke with the groups namely Rebuild Nigeria Initiative, Imo Mandate Organisation, Association of Motorcycle and Tricycle Transporters (AMTT), Imo Students Mandate, Mass Mobilization For Goodluck Jonathan, Goodluck Continuity Mandate Group, Physically Challenged Persons, among others,

The meeting which took place at the Owalla country home of the international tax expert focused on ways to ensure the realization of Ojiri’s governorship ambition in the forthcoming general election.

Speaking to the tumultuous crowd, he said Imo State is in dire need of economic liberation, stating that the State needs a responsive and responsible governor in 2015 to reposition the state economically and attract foreign investment to Imo State.

He added that his intention is to make Imo better and deviate from the practice of those who want to be governor just to enrich themselves.

In an emotion-laden speech, he called on God not to allow him become governor if his ambition is to enrich himself or other pecuniary interest. In his words, “May God not allow me to be Governor if my intention is to siphon money.”

Ojiri said it is important that the people of the State take the right decision by voting in the right person, stating that the electorate should watch out for those with the capacity to live up to expectation, and not political parties. He said that anyone aspiring for public office should have adequate preparations to be able to deliver optimally.

Ojiri hinted his audience that he has developed a practical roadmap to fix the problems of the state, saying his government shall create a sustainable local economy predicated on industrial agriculture.

The Netherlands-trained chartered financial controller said his greatest challenge was to create the good life for the majority of our people, reduce poverty and frustration and make quick positive changes that can impact on the lives of the people. The savvy Owerri North-born politician is the view that drastically reducing unemployment through creating economically rewarding jobs in Imo was an urgent task that should be one of the foremost priorities of a serious-minded governor.

Responding, leaders of the various groups said they were motivated by the credentials of the candidate to rally round him. The leaders of over 20 organizations who spoke through the chairman of Imo Mandate Organisation, Comrade Obinna Nwachukwu said they have unanimously adopted Ken Ojiri and will work assiduously to see that he becomes the next governor of Imo State. He said that Ojiri is a young man who has all it takes to bring Imo out of the woods. In his words, “Ojiri is empathic, young, intellectually sound, possesses the necessary expertise and experience to make Imo great again.
