The campaign train of Imo Governor and the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Owelle with his deputy and running mate, Prince Eze Madumere today last week took Okigwe senatorial zone by storm.
The campaign kick started at Okigwe Local Government with mammoth crowd that greeted the entrance of Owelle Rochas Okorocha with his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere. It was a joyous multitude rendering in different tunes with the same message of endorsement for Imo Governor’s second bid for second term.
The rally was mainly to present All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for various electoral positions to the people as he handed over flags to the said candidates.
Speaking to the people, Governor Okorocha thanked them for supporting him and for coming out en mass the day of declaration and the presidential rally of Major General Mohammadu Buhari.
He said he had not come to speak to them about all his electoral promises, which he fulfilled but to speak about things he will do if he succeeds in his second term bid after 2015 elections. He promised to continue with free and qualitative education at all levels with the transformation of both urban and rural areas.
Continuing , he vowed to fight poverty beyond the much he had done. He averred that after 2015 elections if still in charge, Imo will be turned an industrial hub to be relied upon by most African Countries.
Speaking further, he said industrialization will bring about massive job creation thereby creating a natural solution for huge employment opportunities.
He however admonished Okigwe people to vote APC at all levels. He told them Buhari remains the best as he predicted he will have a landslide victory come February 14, 2015.
He said Ndigbo stand a chance to produce either the next Speaker or Senate President at the National Assembly, and thereby appeal to them to vote Omegara for his experience. He also called for massive votes for the APC candidate for Okigwe senatorial, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu whom he described as a giver who will ensure Igbos and Ndi Imo will not lose out in scheme of things. Hon. Ancho Ihim was also presented to be allowed to go back to the House of Assembly.
As the party faithful took turns to speak, Sunny Chiadi, assured Gov. Okorocha of one hundred percent votes of Okigwe people.
The high point of the campaign was at Onuimo Local Government when the chieftains of People’s Democratic Party declared publicly for All Progressives Congress. Among them are Chief Okechukwu Onyiogasi popularly known as OK 2000, another Public Analyst and PDP chieftain, Dr Kelechi Okpalaeke and Chief Paul Emezie.
Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha welcomed them and assured that APC sees everyone as equal as when you come into the party does not matter. He promised to integrate them into Rochas Campaign Organisation to enable them participate actively in the electioneering process.
The last port of call was Isiala Mbano. It was a tug of war dealing with the crowd especially the ones outside the venue of the campaign at Anara as Gov. Okorocha had to stop at various points to acknowledge cheers from the supporters and admirers.
