Okorocha commends teachers

Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has commended teachers in the state for ensuring the implementation of free education scheme in the state.

Gov. Okorocha spoke when he met with the teachers at Imo International Convention Centre (IICC) Owerri recently.

The Rescue Mission Governor said that his second tenure is to consolidate what is on ground which is very glaring to all and sundry. He further promised that this period will be industrialization which will create jobs for our teeming youths in the state.

The State Executive Officer said that there will be improvement of agriculture especially the agro-allied and encouraged all to engage actively in reviving agriculture in the state.

He appealed to all to maximize any land in their possession so that food can be on the table of every home. He said that oil era is over and there is need to return to agriculture which was the mainstay of the nation’s economy.

The Commander of Free Education said that his concern to continue his ambition is solidly hinged on his passion to see that the children and the downtrodden are given a place in the society.

Rochas Okorocha solicited for the teachers to vote wisely in the general elections. He enjoined all to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) so as to be eligible to vote during elections. In view of this, the governor gave two days public holiday to enable all to collect their cards.

One of the teachers who remained anonymous said that the governor has performed beyond expectation. She commended his outstanding programmes, particularly the free education scheme which is a great joy to the poor in the state. She encouraged all Imo people to vote wisely.

Other highpoints of the programmes were distribution of forms to Imo Youth Must Work in the – 27 LGAs in the state.
