Battle for Douglas House Owerri zone in trouble unless… -Ahamba, SAN

Top notch politician and former Imo governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Mike Ahamba, has described as ‘very unfortunate’ the large number of candidates from the Owerri geo-political zone running for the April 11 Imo guber-national election.

Chief Ahamba (SAN) in an interview with Christian Voice special correspondent, confirmed as real, the danger and likelihood of the numerous candidates from Owerri zone splitting their votes to the advantage of Gov. Rochas Okorocha who is the major contestant from outside Owerri zone.

He, however, said that one cannot control political party flag-bearers in different political parties.

He asked “How can you persuade a person chosen by his political party to step down for someone else from another party?

“It is now left to the electorate in Owerri Zone to make up their mind who they will give their precious votes among the candidates from their zone,” said the legal luminary who also bears the chieftaincy title of Ugo Lorji.

Ahamba, from Aboh-Mbaise in Owerri Zone, said “people from Owerri zone should massively vote for one of their own capable of winning the election and likely to perform better than the outgoing chief executive without minding their individual political party leanings.

According to him, democracy is a game of numbers.

“If owerri zone voters decide to dissipate their votes and their major co-contestant from outside the zone aggregates his own, it could be dangerous indeed and also a pity if it leads to the loss of the election by Owerri geo-political zone”, he said.
