Our beloved Mothers,
We give God all the glory for the opportunity to celebrate this year’s Mothering Sunday of Good News.
It is a year when the Women of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, are focusing on how God in His love and mercy will take us to greater heights in our relationship with Him.
A year when in line with our theme we are trusting God to strengthen our Faith, enable us to Obey and Serve Him in a way we have not done before. We have said that “Faith, Obedience and Service (Heb.11:6, 1 Jn.5:3 and John 24:14-15) are the Foundation and Pillars of our Walk with God. A house without good foundation and strong pillars will not stand. So also if we lack faith or if we do not obey and serve God, our claim to love Him will be built on a faulty foundation.
We know that our God is faithful and by the power of his Holy Spirit and the cleansing blood of Christ our Saviour, he will make us women who will show our faith by our work, and he will help us to love and serve him in our Homes, in our Churches and in our Community.
Each of us should examine ourselves, and see where we have come short of God’s expectations especially our role in our family, by neglecting our homes, our children and husband. May God help us to repent and make amends.
Good women of God, we should teach, and train our children in the way of Faith, Obedience and Service. We should build our homes like the wise woman of Prov.14:1. We should look after our husbands and also extend our love and care to members of our extended family. Widows and orphans should be looked after as James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and keep oneself from being polluted by the world”.
All these things are practicalizing our faith, our obedience and service to God. May the Lord make us faithful. Amen.
Let us also remember that, “God is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble”. (Ps.46:1) As we go through this year of Elections, we should pray that God will give us leaders of his divine choice. We should not live in fear, instead we should be Women of prayer. God in His mercy will hear our prayer and cry for Nigeria and give us victory in Jesus name. Amen.
Chorus: Trust and Obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.
May this 2015 Mothering Sunday honour God in every way in our Churches and may His blessings be showered on us and our families in Jesus Name. AMEN.
Yours in His Service.
