Imo gov-elect to be named after April 25, re-run polls

Re-run of Imo Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in 200 polling units in 23 local government areas of the state comes up on Saturday April 25, 2015.

According to the State Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Gabriel Ada who made the announcement at a press briefing in Owerri, the areas where fresh polls are to be held, have about 145,000 register voters. The governor-elect of the state will be announced after the re-run election.

The re-run election in the areas mentioned followed reports of manipulation of figures and other electoral offences, including snatching of ballot boxes and voting materials by agents of destabilization.

So far, according to Dr. Ada, the All Progressive Congress has won 16 seats in the State House of Assembly, leaving its close rival, Peoples Democratic Party with five, in a 27-seat legislature.
