FUTO conducts free eye treatment for host community

The Optometry Department of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) recently conducted a two-day free eye treatment for the host community of Ihiagwa in Owerri West local government of Imo State from which over 300 patients benefitted.

Speaking to journalists at St John’s (Ang) Church, Ihiagwa, the Head of the Department of Optometry, Dr (Mrs.) Nwakaego Ikoro said the exercise was sponsored by the management of the institution headed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chigozie Asiabaka.

She said the programme was to implement the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Vision 2020 meant for the “elimination of avoidable blindness”.
