The funeral service of Mama Susanna Chukwunenye, mother of the Anglican Bishop of Oru, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Chukwunenye, attracted a full house at St. Simon’s (Ang) Church, Awo-Idemili in Orsu local government of Imo recently.
Preaching at the service, the Bishop of Egbu, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, warned that there is no repentance at death hence he counseled Christians, to mend their ways while still alive.
He described the deceased as a virtuous woman who left a worthy legacy for others to emulate.
On national issues, the preacher lamented the level of corruption in Nigeria and challenged President Buhari to restore discipline among Nigerians and to check the excesses of politicians.
In his remarks, the Bishop of Oru, Rt. Rev. Chukwukwnenye , PhD, promised that the family would uphold the legacies of their mother as he expressed appreciation to those who came to commiserate with them at the moment of their grief.
Among those present at the burial of the 90-year-old deceased were the Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province and the Bishop of Ideato, Most Rev. Caleb Maduoma who represented the Primate, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, the host-bishop of Orlu Diocese, Most Rev. B.C.I. Okoro, PhD, the Bishop of Afikpo, Rt. Rev. Paul Udogu and many senior clergymen from within and outside Oru and Orlu Dioceses.
Among the laity present were the Acting Chancellor of Oru Diocese, Barr. Chudi Onuzo, the President Council of Knights, Oru Diocese, Dr. Emma Odunze, KSC and a host of other Knights and their Ladies from Oru Diocese.
The deceased is survived by six children, grand children, great-grand children, daughters-in-law and a host of other relations.
The funeral service featured the Oru Diocesan choir and that of the Lagos Mainland.
