To All Women of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri
Greetings of Love, Peace and Joy in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, AMEN. August is the time of the year when women gather to hold the Home and Abroad meeting. For those who know God as their Lord and Maker, they make the best use of this opportunity to see how they can be instruments in God’s hand to make an impact and a difference in their community. They look for opportunities for evangelism, to make peace and uphold justice. They speak out for and help the Widows and Orphans and provide for the poor and the weak in their communities.
As we all know, our theme this year is Faith, Obedience and Service. We should ask for God’s grace to practicalize these things especially at this time, because these are the Foundations and Pillars of our Christian lifestyle.
Our faith should be evident to all because “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb.11:6). Obedience is important because if we love God we shall obey Him. “This is love for God; to obey His commands” (1 Jn.5:3). Service to God is a way to show appreciation to God for all His mercies and loving kindness to God will not compel us to serve Him. We should look for ways to serve God by serving others. It has to be by our choice. “Choose for yourself this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:14-15).
So, this Home & Abroad meeting should be a time to grow in our faith and knowledge of God. As children of light we should be obedient to God and put off falsehood and speak truthfully to our neighbours. We are to avoid anger, malice, rage, bitterness, fighting and slander (Eph.4). We should also avoid Gossip which brings division, instead as we see in James 1:25 we should control the use of our Tongues.
May God make your deliberations and actions this Home & Abroad meeting to be fruitful to you, your home and your community to God’s glory in Jesus name, Amen.
Happy Home & Abroad (August Meeting) 2015!!
Yours in Christ,
Dr. (Mrs) Eunice Okorocha
