Ndom Owerre call on Chief Oweaya

By Gid Ahanonu

Members of the newly-constituted executive of Udodiri Ndom Owerre in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State, led by the president, Mrs Ifeoma Anokwu recently paid a courtesy visit to their grand patron, Chief Dr. Christian Oweaya Anukam, KSM.

Speaking on behalf of the women, the president said they had come to show appreciation for the grand patron’s services to the women and to urge him not to relent now that a new administration is in place.

They specifically referred to the hall complex he is building for Ndom Owerre situated behind NUT secretariat in Owerri.

The women equally sought for his continued guidance to avoid de-railing in their administration.

In her contribution, the immediate past-president, Mrs Justina Oguoma who came with her out-going executive, advised the new executive to always co-operate with Chief Dr. Anukam reminding them of the Igbo adage that ‘Ngwerre hapu ukwu osisi, aka akpara ya’.

Responding, Chief Anukam counseled the new executive to give him advance information on the areas they would need his guidance.

He also called on members of the group to co-operate with members of the executive adding that the president will be held accountable for any error in the system.

The grand patron then donated money to the federal body and to the chairpersons and secretaries of the villages for hosting the 2015 August Meeting at which the wife of Imo State Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, will be the guest of honour. She hailed her as an embodiment of philanthropy who had touched the lives of many indigent women in the state and urged the women to appeal to her, on his behalf, to sustain the good deeds in this second tenure.
