Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha last week returned from a two-week economic tour of China and Singapore optimistic, as ever, that he would fulfil all his election promises to the people of the state.
Speaking at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri on arrival, announced that some business partners from China and Singapore will arrive Imo State in September for the construction of an Industrial Park in Ohaji/Egbema Local government.
He explained that the choice of the plans area for the park was because of its proximity to gas supply to power the scheme.
Also, Governor Okorocha said that plans are afoot to revive the Oguta Lake project through the Private Partnership Arrangement (PPA) adding also that his government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a group to make Avufu Poultry more functional.
Governor Okorocha stressed that all the moves he had taken were to ensure that he kept his promise of “job! Job!! Job!!!, “employment! Employment!! employment!!! And “factory! factory!! factory!!!.
“Very soon, we will start seeing those promises coming to reality”, he assured.
On the arrears of workers’ salaries and pensioners entitlements, he pleaded with workers to be patient assuring that the arrears would be liquidated as soon as the government received the bail-out fund from the federal government.
He recalled that his government had always paid workers’ salaries promptly in his first tenure adding that the current challenges were due to short-fall in revenue from the federal allocations which is not peculiar to Imo State.
