The wife of the president, Hajia Aisha Buhari, has urged Nigerian women to dream for Nigeria not to remain the same again.
In her message to the Imo Women August Meeting through the wife of the Vice President, Pastor Mrs Adelapo Osinbajo, Hajia Buhari urged women to dream for a positive change in Nigeria under President Buhari.
Basing her address on the theme of the August Meeting, “Women: Dare to dream,” the president’s wife counseled women to always take care of their husbands and to bring up their children in knowledge and in truth to ensure a better Nigeria right from the family level.
She noted that unity love and hospitality among Imo women were legendary as she hailed the state governor, Rochas Okorocha and his wife for taking care of the less-privileged.
In her address, the wife of Imo State governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, credited Imo women for being behind the success stories in the state.
She thanked God for restoring hope to the hopeless and for using her as the vessel to actualize the dreams of the less privileged.
Some of the highlights of the occasion were the commissioning of a skills-acquisition centre built by Mrs Okorocha and the opening of two, two-bedroom bungalows built for two widows in Orji and Ohii under Mrs Okorocha’s ‘She Needs a Roof Project (SNARP) which brings to a total of 151 such bungalows for widows and indigent families across Imo State.
Other highlights of the day at the venue, Heroes’ Square Owerri were competitions among women contingents from the 27 local governments in the state in march-past, agricultural exhibition, water race and others.
Ideato South local government Area emerged the overall winners and went home with cash prize of N2,500,000 while Obowo, which came second, got N1,500,000 cash prize as the third place local government area received N1,000,000 like all the participating local governments were compensated with the same N1,000,000 prize.
