Student takes Egbu Diocese to national limelight

The Anglican Diocese of Egbu in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State is now the cynosure of both local and international eyes following the recent academic feat of a student of Egbu Girls’ Secondary School owned by the diocese.

Miss Esther Daniel emerged the winner of International Brain Bee competition of Nigeria and currently representing the country at the world championship holding in Cairns, Australia between last Thursday, August 20th to next Wednesday, August 26th, 2015.

In a brief reception to bid her farewell to the world championship at the Bishop’s Court, Egbu, the Bishop and proprietor of the School, Rt Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, noted that Miss Daniel, by her accomplishment, has brought the name of the school and diocese to prominence.

The bishop said her performance was indicative of the improved academic standard in the school and commended the principal, Lady Onyekachi Basil Nwachukwu, and teachers for their dedication to duty.

In her remarks, Miss Daniel attested that the encouragement from her school and the diocese would spur her to excel at the international level to bring pride to Nigerians.

Miss Daniel was accompanied to the championship in Australia by her school principal and guardian, Lady Nwachukwu.

The International Brain Bee (IBB) is a yearly international event organized to raise awareness and interest among secondary school students in the study of the brain.
