Igbo must unite to meet set goals -Chief Iwuanyanwu

By Nick Chibunna

The inability of the Igbos to attain their full and collective potentials in the Nigerian polity has been attributed to the penchant of some Igbo elements and societies to distance themselves from their Igbo identities.

Speaking to our reporter in a marathon interview at his Orji home, frontline politician, Chief Dr. Emmnauel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu said his view was predicated on his personal experience as a presidential candidate.

According to him, in the course of his electioneering some years ago, he observed that Yoruba elements in Kogi, Kwara and Delta fully identified with the aspirations of their kith and kin in the core Yoruba states.

The PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) member, lamented that the case was different among the Igbo speaking elements in Delta, Rivers and other areas who, he said are in the habit of denying rather unsuccessfully, their Igbo, linkages culturally, linguistically and otherwise.

The Ahaejiejemba Ndigbo who spoke on various national issues, including his deep faith in Christianity then made a passionate call on the Igbos in every section of Nigeria to unite to actualize their common aspirations.
