Okigwe Diocesan youths end 2015 conference

The 2015 Youth Conference of the Anglican Diocese of Okigwe which ended at the Cathedral Church of St. Barnabas Okigwe was regaled with the account of the bishop’s recent tour of United States with his wife, by the prelate himself, Rt. Rev. E.C.D. Osuegbu, PhD, JP.

He disclosed that as they preached from one church to the other in the US, they received offers from some individuals for assistance to the diocese.

On gay marriage, Bishop Osuegbu disclosed that despite the US supreme court’s pro-gay-marriage ruling, many in that country still stood for Jesus, both blacks and whites, more so the blacks, adding that though the trip was hectic, it was rewarding.

At the conference proper, the guest preacher who spoke on the theme of the conference ‘the battle is mine’, Evangelist Uche Anyanwu posited that whenever Christians invoked the name of Jesus in battle situations, that God surely intervenes using any form of instrument to “defeat Goliath”.

The preacher identified sin and the lack of faith as barriers to winning the battle of life.

The four-day event featured Bible exposition, seminars, crusade, Bible quiz and others.

The highlights of the programme were the cutting of the conference cake, award of the honour of Youths’ Ambassadors to Mr Kingsley Ewuzie, Mr Ukachukwu Nwokoro, Mr Erasmus Alaheme and Mrs Ann Okwunali as well as the induction of the new youths’ executive council.

Some of those in attendance were Prof. Davidson Njoku, Sir L.O. Udochukwu, Sir Innocent Akpaeri, Sir L.N. Uzoagba, Chief and Mrs Allen Iheonu.
