Police parade 25 suspects, recover stolen cars

The Imo State Police command has paraded 15 armed robbery suspects, at its headquarters in Owerri.

Addressing newsmen, the Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Dave Akinyemi, said that the command was able to record the feat and recover more than 10 stolen vehicles because they were given useful information.

Other suspects paraded included two rape suspects and seven others held over child trafficking.

According to the Police Chief, the command, acting on a tipoff, arrested a woman (names withheld) from Eziobodo in Owerri West but residing in Amaifeke Orlu who allegedly conspired with others to carry out the child trafficking offence involving a set of twins.

He said that one of the twins meant to be sold to a native doctor at the cost of N100,000 died and that the syndicate would be arraigned for child trafficking and ritual murder.

Others involved in the case included a nurse and four others.

Also, the police were said to have arrested a suspected serial rapist who was allegedly engaged in raping women in one of the tertiary institutions in the state and had confessed to raping move than 100 female students since 2011.

DCP Akinyemi said the suspect will be charged to court soon after investigation.
