The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has released the result of the 2014/2015 Senior School Certificate Examination.
The pioneer students of Professor Enoch Anyanwu Christ Education PEACE COLLEGE Owerri for boys came out in flying colours. The college presented only ten candidates who the supervisors described as “young professors” as they confidently wrote expo-free examination and recorded one hundred percent pass. A statistical analysis of the result of this wonderful students shows that in English Language, nine of them had B3 while one candidate had C4. In Mathematics, three students had B3, four had C4, two C5 and one C6. In Chemistry, four students made B3, one C4 and three C6. !n Biology, six students recorded B3 and two C4. In Physics, one student had A1, two students B3, one C5, three C6 and one E8. Civic Education, two students had A , three B2 and five B3.
In Computer Studies, six students had A1 and four B2. Two students who sat for government, one had A1 and the other B2.
The seven students who sat for Economics, all had B3 while the ten students that sat for Animal Husbandry also recorded B3. Only three students sat for Geography, one had A1, one B3 and the other C6. Two students went in for Christian Religious Studies, one had B3, the other C4. These “young professors” scored 220 and above in the last JAMB examination. PEACE College is an acronym for Professor Enoch Anyanwu Christ Education College, Owerri. It is located along Owerri – Port Harcourt road near the popular Avu Junction in Owerri-West Local Government Area. The Late Professor Enoch Anyanwu built most of the school blocks and donated it to the Diocese of Owerri, Anglican Communion. The Owerri Diocese provided a conducive place for teaching and learning. The serene environment makes it difficult for people to notice that a wonderful school is located there. The motto of the school is “Education for spiritual, moral and social transformation in Christ”. The management team strives to give the students all round education with emphasis on spiritual transformation in Christ, morality and academic excellence. The school has well qualified teachers in all the subjects who are committed to duties.
The Diocese and the family of the benefactor provided the school with functional and effective science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Laboratory.
Students of PEACE College compete favourably with their counterparts in national competitions. In 2013, two students of the college took part in the Schlumberger Excellence in Education Development Collaborative Workshop in Port Harcourt and were among the four best secondary schools in Nigeria that signed agreement with Schlumberger for free supply of computer and its accessories.
Other two students of the college excelled in the Sehlumberger National Essay Competition and participated in the five-week Robotics Academy Exposure organized by Schlumberger, SEED. They won free flight to and fro Lagos, free accommodation and feeding, certificates and medals for themselves and the school.
This unique school also participated in the finals of the 2013 Science Prototype Exhibition in Lagos on Waste Management by SEED. In November this year, two students will be representing the school at the science project programme for the final exhibition in Lagos.
Mathematics and Physics teachers of the institution have been in active teachers’ impact assessment programmes geared towards training and assessing the teachers.
The students are taught to match character with diligence in Jesus Christ.
