Police arrest ‘fake’ pastor for defiling woman

The spokesman of Delta State Police Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, has confirmed the arrest recently of a fake pastor based in Asaba for allegedly drugging and raping a 24-year-old woman.

Narrating her ordeal, the victim said she reluctantly went to the pastor’s church following her mother’s insistence that she should go to the church for the “pastor” to deliver her following a favourable account of his miraculous powers given by her younger brother who had earlier participated in the ‘pastor’s’ miracle sessions.

She said the pastor asked her to come to the church the next day with ‘cream, soap and perfume’.

According to her she did not believe in the pastor but that in deference to her mother’s pressure, she had to keep the appointment with him in the church, the next day. In her words, “when I got to the church I did not get myself again and the next place I found myself was in a hotel on Federal College Road.”

She said she resisted and fought the man’s overtures from 10am to 10pm adding that he was hungry at a point and demanded for food which was brought by the hotel’s kitchen staff which he overpowered her.

The victim arrived their home early in the morning but the unkempt and disheveled state of their daughter alarmed them forcing them to report the matter to the police in Asaba who eventually arrested the fake priest.
