Though the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, announced that his 53rd birthday celebration would be low-keyed, his supporters, party members and friends last week converged at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport to welcome him with a mini birthday party consisting mainly of birthday choruses.
Speaking to journalists at the airport, the governor noted that the addition of one year in one’s life is a privilege to be cherished highly.
Thanking God for His grace on himself and family, Governor Okorocha asserted that he is satisfied with what God has done in his life and with what he has been able to achieve at 53 years in the state, the country and the world at large.
He promised Imo people good governance, adding that the welfare of the people is his priority.
Governor Okorocha stressed the need for the state to take decisive actions to guarantee the future of the children of the state, calling on politicians and the work force to take their jobs seriously.
On the nation, he asserted that Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable hence, according to him, Nigerians should see themselves as one irrespective of tribe, ethnic group, religion and zone.
