IMSU most subscribed varsity in Nigeria -Ag VC

Over 25,000 candidates who sat for the 2015/2016 University Matriculation Examination chose the Imo State University (IMSU), thus making it the most subscribed university in Nigeria, according to the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Adaobi Obasi.
She said that of the 25,000 candidates, 18,000 sat for the  university’s post University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UMTE) test.
The Acting Vice Chancellor equally disclosed that the university had, for the first time, introduced computer-based tests for prospective candidates to eliminate the possibility of candidates engaging mercenaries to write the examinations for them and to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted into the examination halls.
Again, according to her, unlike in the previous years when candidates came for the tests with pencils and papers and waited for the papers to be marked, the computer-based tests made it possible for each candidate’s scores to be known immediately after the test as the computer does the scoring with the entire results of the examination published within one week.
In another development, the Acting Vice chancellor disclosed that the university scored 89 percent success across board in a recent re-accreditation exercise by the NUC.
She explained that 53 programmes presented for re-accreditation were approved thus; 39 programmes were granted full accreditation, while eight were granted interim accreditation.
