Egbu Diocesan Synod kicks off

The 2nd Session of the Seventh Synod of the Diocese of Egbu kicked off yesterday when the finals of the 2015 music festival of the diocese, tagged “Tonu Jehova!”, took place.
At a pre-synod press briefing, the chairman of the Synod Planning Committee, Sir Osita Igwilo, said that the Synod thanksgiving service would take place today at the venue, Emmanuel Church, Amorie, Obibiezena in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.
He said that at the service which begins at 10a.m Gov Rochas Okorocha of Imo State is billed to read the first lesson while, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, will read the second.
Tomorrow, Monday, Nov 9, the Synod with the theme “…Lord, will you at this time Restore the Kingdom of Israel? “(Acts. 1:6) … The Disciples’ misconception of the Kingdom and Divine Principles of the Kingdom, will be opened formally while the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor will also deliver his Presidential Address/Bishop’s Charge.
Former Gov of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, will deliver the first Synod lecture immediately after the Bishop’s Charge while Gov Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State will deliver the second lecture on Tuesday when the four-day event would come to a close.
