The Imo State government has slashed the number of ministries from 22 to 13.
The state’s Head of Service, Mr. Calistus Ekenze, announced this to newsmen after a meeting between the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, and the permanent secretaries at Government House, Owerri.
He said many issues were discussed at the meeting, among them the merger and restructuring of ministries for better performance.
The Head of Service assured that the exercise will not cost any worker his job as the permanent secretaries not absorbed in the ministries will be deployed to the commissions.
On the forthcoming Federation of Public Service Games to be hosted by the state, Mr. Ekenze disclosed that about 15,000 athletes and visitors are expected in Owerri between November 30 and December 11, 2015. He urged hoteliers, taxi drivers and tricycle operators to relate well with the guests.
