St. Luke’s (Ang) Church, Ogui-Nike, Enugu recently hosted the 2015 Annual General Conference of the Enugu Anglican Diocesan Guild of Stewards (EADGOS) climaxed by the induction of the new executive comprising members from various churches in the diocese.
The Archbishop of Enugu Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel O. Chukwuma, preached the sermon at the thanksgiving service last Sunday to round off the conference.
Basing his sermon on the theme “Put on the whole Armour of God”, Archbishop Chukwuma counseled Christians to be aware that a Christian’s life is strewn with warfare in the spiritual and physical sphere.
In this connection, he added, Christians have to understand the type of armour suitable for any battle and put them on.
The prelate submitted that Christians are engaged in struggles against hostile terrorists and demonic powers that attack marriages, professions and the life of Christians generally hence the need to put the armour for defensive and protective purposes.
Earlier on the opening day, the Vicar of St. Luke’s (Ang) Church, Ogui-Nike, Ven. C.C. Nweke, said the opening prayers followed by praise and worship by members of EADGOS.
There was also an exposition of the conference theme by Rev. Can. Kenneth Ugwuanyi.
The second day started with Holy Communion after which there was Bible study moderated by Ven. A.N.C. Orah.
Health talk on “High Blood Pressure, Heart Attack- causes and Prevention”, was delivered by Ven. Prof. Sam Ike while Prof (Mrs) Ulasi dwelt on the topic, “Living healthy by avoiding foods and drinks that eventually kill.”
Speaking to Christian Voice, EADGOS Public Relations Officer, Bro Emeka Ibuodinma advised his colleagues to live up to expectation and offer selfless service though the service does not carry pecuniary reward but assured it “caries a huge spiritual reward from God”.
