Run away from native doctors …Owerri Diocesan Mothers’ Union tells Christians

The unwholesome behaviour of some church members who summon their fellow church members before the native doctors’ shrines has been roundly condemned by mothers in the Anglican Diocese of Owerri.
In a communique after the 26th Biennial Mothers’ Union Conference at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, CATOL, Owerri, they equally frowned at traditional marriage after church wedding, appeasing dead father of the bride before traditional rites as well as elaborate traditional marriage.
Among other contemporary issues touched upon were the anti-corruption war which they urged President Buhari to sustain and the appeal to government at all levels to pay workers and pensioners their salaries and allowances as when due.
The communique called on members to shun idol worship reflected in masquerade and observance of market days, advising the church to appoint educated financial officers and to open bank accounts to avoid financial misappropriation and also enjoined members to stop patronizing prayer houses as “this will mar our faith and obedience in Christ.
