In the melee, however, agents of rival companies such as Airtel, Glo and Etisalat rushed to the scene to convince aggrieved MTN customers the purchase their own lines.
It took the intervention of the police to disperse the irate crowd of subscribers who complained that the company centinue to block their lines even when they had re-registeral them.
According to the customers, the rigours of registering and re-registering their phone lines had been much and the service provider appeared non-chalant to make the process easy for them.
One of the customers who said that she had arrived the MTN office at 5am, told our reporter that she registered the line three months ago only to receive a text message recently to re-register or face disconnection.
