From Emma Nwanekezi, Enugu
The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Emmanuel O. Chukwuina recently confirmed some Christians in their early teens at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Achara Layout, Enugu.
In his homily before the confirmation, the Archbishop clarified that confirmation is not a matter of ceremony but a conviction that the confirmed has repented and ready to live true Christian life.
The primate described the Anglican Church as a living church, where a confirmed person is a born-again assuring that as from that day some of them would receive a new life.
“Some of you will speak in tongues and speaking in tongues is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit” adding that others might have the spiritual gift of praying and singing.
Archbishop Chukwuma, however, warned newly- confirmed not to take speaking in tongues like those he said, performed what he termed ‘Abracadabra’ to deceive people.
He then urged them to get involved in evangelism to win souls for Christ as they had been confirmed to win souls and be witnesses to Christ as well as to always fast and pray to God.
