Govt Task Force men invade Uzii Anglican Compound …Harass workers for asking them out of the premises

Men of one of the taskforces set up by the Gov. Rochas Okorocha administration in Imo State, at the weekend invaded the sanctity of Uzii Anglican Mission Compound in pursuit of a motorists they claimed violated road traffic rules.
They drew caution  to the winds and caused an ugly scene in the compound which houses the St James Anglican Church as well as other service departments of the Owerri Anglican Diocese, including the Christian Voice Newspaper.
All entreaties by clerics and heads of departments present in the compound were rebuffed by these men who went ahead to manhandle the supposed offender and a female staff of the Boys & Girls Brigade that intervened. They even insulted our Managing Editor who pleaded with them to leave.
The situation was, however, brought to control when one of them saw reasons that the compound was a house of God and quickly asked his colleagues to withdraw.
He, however, apologized on behalf of his colleagues.
Some passers-by who witnessed the scene condemned the invasion of a church premises by the taskforce men, saying that as long as the motorist was in the house of God, the men had no right to chase and manhandle him there without recourse to the vicar in-change of the church. They pleaded with the Governor to screen people properly before giving them appointments. “some of these task force men are not good ambassadors of the Owelle Rescue team”.
