No more house demolition in Works Layout, Ower -Owelle

Owners of buildings in the flood-prone Works Layout area of Owerri metropolis, earlier earmarked for demolition can heave sighs of relief as their structures would be spared after all.
Imo State Governor, Owelle Anayo Okorocha, gave the assurance last week while inspecting the progress of work at the notorious erosion site and the road rehabilitation project in the area.
He noted that the area has posed an age-long erosion challenge and that in the last three years his government has been battling with the project to ensure that residents of the area have relief.
The governor said that flood in the area has been channeled to Otamiri and Nworie Rivers to spare the houses earlier marked for demolition at extra  cost, though.
He added that the provision of basic infrastructure is key to development and expressed assurance that when the roads and flyover are completed economic activities would increase.
