South-South AGCN Leaders oppose sessionist plans by members

A brewing agitation by some members of the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria, from the South-South to secede from the main body has been roundly condemned by zonal leaders of the church from the South-South.
The agitators have been canvassing for the formation of the South-South General Council of Assemblies of God which the zonal leaders in a recent statement described as the handiwork of a few disgruntled elements which “is not only ungodly, absurd but also unconstitutional”.
According to them the agitators mainly from Akwa Ibom state were sponsored by the “ex-communicated former General Superintendent of the church.
Passing a solid vote of confidence on the new General Superintendent of the church, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, and the executive  committee of the church, the south-south zonal leaders insisted that the leadership of the church has done well.
“There is only one and indivisible General Council of Assemblies of God, Nigeria”, they affirmed as they directed “our brethren in all our various units to distance themselves from this or any other rebellious movement as their so-called agitation is baseless, selfish and devilish in all intents and  purposes”.
