Thrilled by the coming together of Nigerian youths under the umbrella of All Nigerian Youth Ethnic Nationality, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, has urged the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) to support the move by the youths towards the “practical unity” of the nation.
The governor was speaking when leaders of the group paid him a courtesy visit in Owerri.
He noted that divisions in the country had been based on religion and tribe and commended the youths for standing up to condemn what is wrong.
He stressed the need for the youths to sustain the tempo as unity should be cherished by all.
The chairman of the group, Alhaji Yeruma Shettima, who is also the National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, noted that the nation’s unity is threatened and stressed the need for Nigerians to come together to ensure stability.
He spoke against the country being hijacked by criminals in the guise of herdsmen and pledged to work with government to ensure unity.
According to him, the group was in the South east for their quarterly meeting.
He condemned the attacks and killings in Enugu and other states and urged the Federal government to aid the victims and to take measures to check the proliferation of arms possession by unauthorized Nigerians.
He promised that Nigerian youths, irrespective of ethnic background, would come together to ensure the success of the nation.
