The Third Session of the Sixth Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Ideato-Imo State recently came to a close at Christ’s (Ang) Church, Ntueke in Ideato South Local Government Area.
In his charge based on the Synod’s theme; “Never Give up”, the Bishop of Ideato and the Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Caleb Anny Maduoma, called on Christians not to give up despite the challenges confronting them.
He contended that Christians who are on a journey with Our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, are bound to face interruptions and oppositions which must not be allowed to distract them from life’s journey.
Archbishop Maduoma counseled Christians not to allow their emotions destroy their faith in God adding that it is faith, not emotions, that create “our reality”.
He, therefore, enjoined Christians to stop wailing and weeping over adverse situations but to trust “our Lord and savior for His miraculous intervention”.
In his sermon at the synod thanksgiving service, the guest preacher and the Bishop of Kafanchan, Rt. Rev. Marius Dogo, urged Christians to stand firm in their faith and to see the word of God as the Rock of Gibraltar in order to appropriate the grace of the Lord in their lives.
Addressing the synod the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha represented by the State Commissioner for Works and Housing Mrs. Josephine Udoji, pledged to assist the diocese where necessary as he congratulated the Archbishop for his spiritual exploits.
On his part, the Senator representing Imo West, Senator Hope Uzodinma promised to build the Archbishop’s Retirement House.
Highpoints of the synod were the preferment of Rev. Kelechi Chimara as Canon of the Cathedral of St. Peter, Arondizuogu and the Vicar of Akwu Parish, Rev. Chukwu-dubem Uduji, the Vicar of Ntueke Parish, Rev. Godstime Okereke and the Archbishop’s Assistant Chaplain, Rev. Benjamin Okpara were preferred as Honorary Canons respectively.
